" This is where the fire and brimstone, the eternal damnation of those who do wrong comes in. If you aren't good then the devil will shove a burning pitchfork up your ass for all eternity."
Do you really believe this to be true? It's not so binary nor does it need to be psychoanalyzed into a sort of caricature where justice is vengeance.
Notice in in Micah where it says to 'do' justice and to 'love' mercy... it's a paradox but it also plays out in our lives.

MICAH 6:8
He has told you, O man, what is good;
And what does the LORD require of you?
But to do justice, to love mercy,
And to walk humbly with your God.
